Mercy Hostel

I keep extending my stay because renting a motorcycle here is so easy, especially with it delivered to me. The beds are spacious, the reception team is friendly and always smiling, and the accommodation is clean. This is my second visit. A few things could be better: the sheets and pillows weren’t changed the next day, and there were some hairs on the floor just after cleaning, though I think someone may have dropped them there. I’ve also seen clumps of hair in the showers, but there are plenty of stalls, so I just use another one. Someone seemed to have filled the fridge with their own food, which may be why there’s a sign asking guests not to do that. Towels cost 30 baht and aren’t refundable, with a 100 baht deposit; locker locks can be rented for 50 baht and the money is returned. The washer costs 30 baht, and the dryer is 60 baht, though clothes take about half a day to dry. There are unusual people everywhere, so I can’t list every basic consideration on the wall.

I ended up extending twice because the place is such an easygoing spot. There’s loads of room to hang out indoors and outside, plus a sports room and movie room. The staff are really helpful, and I felt welcome straight away. Breakfast is included, and there are free earplugs, endless cookies, fruit, coffee and tea, with drinks for sale too. You can rent a scooter, do laundry, find books, get activity and travel information, and there’s a cute hostel cat. The rooms are quiet and air-conditioned, and the showers are great with lots of space. The kitchen lets you cook and keep food in the fridge. It’s no more than a 10-minute walk to the centre. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, highly recommend.

The friendly, helpful staff and the social atmosphere are what make this hostel special. It’s easy to meet people here, and I just love staying here. The rooms are consistently clean and comfortable too. I’ve been to Chiang Rai a few times, and this is the best hostel in every way. I don’t know anyone who’d regret coming here :)

There’s a nice outdoor area, and the whole place has a social but relaxed feel. The rooms and bathrooms are big and were kept very clean. They offer water, tea, coffee, and cookies for free, and the simple buffet breakfast was good. Really friendly staff. One of the best hostels I’ve been to.
