Kalm Bangsaen Hotel

The room was clean and everything worked, but the place looks promising from a distance and needs serious improvement up close. Breakfast was okay, though the coffee was instant, not real coffee. The main problem was the swimming pool, with bird droppings all around it. They also wouldn’t sell beer at 3 pm, even though you can do that at other places now.

This was my second stay, and the hotel offers good value. I had a sea view room with a truly amazing vista through a floor-to-ceiling glass window. The bathroom had the same lovely view, though the vanity counter was short. The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. It’s right by the beach, with lots of places to eat within walking distance, including plenty of street food, especially in the family area. The neighborhood has a great family atmosphere. I forgot to take photos of breakfast, but the food was tasty and came quickly. The reception staff, housekeeper, and restaurant server all provided great service. A special mention to the technician, who came up promptly to help with my TV issue.

The view was incredible, and the staff handled our requests efficiently, but I wouldn’t return. We spent one night in a sea view room at Kalm, and the condition was much more beat up than the pictures suggested. Water poured out of the toilet right after check-in. A technician repaired it and cleaned the floor. The bathroom still barely had hot water even after he replaced the heater. At night, the loud music from the bars and streets made it impossible to sleep. Great view, but never again.

The location was great, with everything within walking distance. There’s a local market and a 7/11 nearby, plus street food everywhere. The balcony stayed comfortable thanks to the sea breeze. The room had good quality soap, shampoo, and conditioner, and a modern TV that let us log in to our own Netflix account. Water pressure varied, but it was okay, and the staff were friendly enough. The main issue was noise. A nearby bar could be heard clearly because the room wasn’t soundproof, perhaps because the windows were worn. It closed around midnight, but some local kids were on the beach blasting music until 6 in the morning. Light sleepers should avoid this room. I’d come back if it were better soundproofed. Good sleep matters. We didn’t try the hotel food or breakfast since we usually eat out. Seaview room: 6/10.
