S.C. Heritage Hotel

I switched hotels as soon as I could. The place felt eerie, the property was run-down and badly maintained, and the location seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. I’m traveling alone and didn’t expect much, but even the toiletries were just little sachets for one shower, and the air conditioning had only one temperature setting. The staff were nice, but I’d save my money.

The ants were a serious problem across the room, to the point that I had to use my own insect repellent. The building is old, and the gouges and damage on the wooden surfaces bring down the feel of the place. It would also help to have fresh toilet paper each day, since I often needed it for cleaning. They reliably brought soap, shampoo, and bottled water daily, which I really appreciated. The service was good, but pest control and some small repairs are needed.

The cleaning staff made the stay for me. They were efficient and had a distinctive way of working. The hotel is easy to find, in a strategic spot, and has free parking. It’s quiet, with a calm atmosphere, and works well for a stay with family or friends. It’s a very old hotel, so don’t come expecting luxury. The reception area could look much nicer, and the old artifacts on the walls and cobwebs on the ceiling need attention. The elevator could use an update as well. Still, I’d strongly recommend staying here.

The rooms are big, and the TV and water heater have been modernized. Housekeeping was great, with generous daily supplies of soap, shampoo, and toilet paper, so staying a week was reasonably comfortable. It’s cheaper than other hotels, too. The place has a 70s time-capsule feel, like an old diplomat hotel. The pub isn’t open, and the once-grand leather sofas in the lobby have been vandalized, though they’re still plush. From the room you get a tactical view down the whole street, which makes it feel like a safehouse for a cyberpunk adventure while you run around town using Grab. There’s no restaurant or convenience store nearby, so expect to walk or take a short Grab ride and scout out where to get supplies and food.
