Sabai Stay

I booked a double room with a sea view for three weeks after seeing the good Booking.com score of 8,6. I usually check TripAdvisor, but this time I trusted Google reviews. Big mistake. I normally don't write bad reviews, but this stay was a disaster. The staff were friendly and helpful when I arrived, the entrance was clean, and I got a good first impression. There was AC throughout. In the room were two bottles of water, an electric kettle, a table, two chairs, a closet, and a mirror. Getting there by taxi was easy, but going out for lunch or dinner was the problem. The neighbourhood around it is dirty and unpleasant, though that's not something the hotel can change. The nearest restaurant is about three minutes away, but a major highway runs between it and the hotel. It would be fine by motorbike, but I couldn't get there without a taxi. The room seemed okay until I saw the bathroom. I had to clean the trash bin and surfaces myself, which was disgusting. Both shower heads were broken and sprayed water everywhere. There were no towel tags, and the toilet roll holder was broken, so I didn't know where to put the roll without it getting wet. The mattress felt like a stone. I stayed one night, then left the next day. Run away if you can!

It was quiet, though I could hear all the neighbours. The place is really a guest house, not an apart hotel, and there was no sea view despite my request for a room with one. The building and furniture are old, though the furniture was clean. The bathroom door wouldn't close, and the old windows were hard to open.

There are better beaches nearby. The hotel is about 8 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes by scooter from the city center.

The rooms were comfortable, the prices were clear with no hidden charges, and the staff were kind and spoke perfect English. They were always ready to help. We'd definitely stay again next time.
