The Lapa Hotel

Breakfast was amazing, with Thai food available every morning, and I made the most of it. I spent four nights here and used the pool every day. There’s a little 'mini fake beach' beside it with a few sun chairs, which I liked better than the crowded beach nearby. The hotel is lovely, the staff are friendly, and I couldn’t fault anything. I’d definitely come back 🧡

I’m sharing this because of how the hotel handled what happened to my family today with their aggressive parking attendant. We left our scooter just across the road from the hotel entrance, put our helmets on the handles, and walked toward the nearby mall entrance. To our astonishment, the attendant moved the bike, and all three helmets fell into the road. One broke completely. When we confronted him, he was aggressive and confrontational. I told reception what had happened, but they showed no consideration that their staff member had just broken a brand new bike helmet. There was no apology, no offer to replace it, and no explanation. How they handle staff behaving this way says a lot about how they operate. Avoid.

After staying here many times over more than two years, I returned and was very disappointed. The internet was terrible: room 305 never got more than two bars from any of the many connection points. In the toilet, the water had been turned off because a 100 baht lead was leaking, and they couldn’t be bothered to replace it. Fortunately, I was only there for one night and didn’t need it much. Some of the front office staff were over officious. I understand some Thai, and heard them speaking derogatively about guests. The place is getting tired and worn, and there are better options in Hua Hin for similar value.

The management was poor. There was no receptionist on duty at night, and it took four calls just to find out the room type. I ended up speaking to security by phone about it, but they didn’t know. Their service was very good, though. If you’re a foreigner, don’t expect them to communicate understandably in English. I also had a bad experience with the security guard’s manner. He knocked on the door about late checkout. We were leaving, but my boyfriend wasn’t feeling well, so packing and getting out took an extra 40 minutes. The guard said, “If you are sick, go the hospital.” No one has trained him to speak to people nicely?
