Sungthong Kamala Phuket Hotel

My husband and I realized after checking out and heading home that we’d left some belongings in the room. We flew home and arrived late, so we contacted the hotel the next day. We hadn’t gone anywhere else after checking out or opened our luggage, so we’re certain the items were left there. I called the hotel and also asked a nearby friend to speak with the receptionist in person, since we just wanted to get our things back. They said nothing had been found, even though I clearly remember where I left everything. I know it was our responsibility to take all our belongings, but most hotels hold onto lost items and return them. It’s disappointing that this one didn’t.

The pool and garden were fantastic, with a large pool, 10 loungers, and three sets of tables and chairs. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and it’s close to supermarkets and about a 10 minute walk to the beach. We had a fabulous four night stay. The rooms were clean and spacious, the shower had good water pressure, and the air conditioning worked well.

The hotel didn’t look like the pictures on the booking sites, and it shares wrong photos on Agoda and other apps to lure people in. There’s no lift. Staff were bad too: when I called at 10 am to ask for water for the room, they refused and kept pressuring me to check out. I don’t recommend staying here.

It’s a basic hotel, but alright for the price and gets the job done. There isn’t much service apart from cleaning. The pool is nice, and there’s an inexpensive restaurant nearby with a huge choice of food. The location is the best part: Villa, Tops, 7-eleven, and Big C are all within walking distance. The beach is a little far, though you can walk there if you’re willing.
