Chakungrao Riverview Hotel

The river views are pleasant and the location is convenient, but this is my second stay at Chakungrao Riverview Hotel and the hot water problem is still there. It only comes on early in the morning, so evenings and nights mean cold showers. I raised it on my previous visit, but nothing seems to have changed, which is disappointing. Staff are friendly enough and the rooms generally clean. The rates are reasonable and the comfort decent, though the unreliable hot water is a real drawback. I hope management fixes it.

The room and toilet were clean, and breakfast was decent, with Thai food and freshly cut fruit. But the twin beds had wheels and kept sliding whenever we got out of bed or leaned against the headboard with a pillow. Pretty annoying. The air conditioner was noisy too.

I liked this little town, with its friendly people and great local food at the market. It's not really set up for western tourism if that's what you're looking for. The hotel was dated, but very clean, had everything we needed and cost less than average. We also had a nice breakfast before getting back on the road.

The night market, river and several restaurants are a short walk from this downtown hotel. The old city historical park is about a 3 minute drive or a 10 minute walk away. Staff were friendly, and apart from the bathroom, our room was fairly clean and comfortable. The building is very old and needs serious maintenance. As of November 2021, the hotel had no facilities beyond the room, with no breakfast, restaurant or cafe. Passable for a stay.
