River Inn

The pool is the best part of this hotel, in a pleasant setting and kept in good condition. The rest feels like a place that has slipped from its former glory. Rooms are badly worn: brown frames, wardrobes missing doors, and a bathroom ceiling peeling above the shower. Wi-Fi on the 3rd floor was almost nonexistent, so I tried the lower 2nd and upper 4th floors, where it was patchy and unusable after 7pm. The bed was hard as a wooden plank, while the thick pillows sank flat. I’d need a massage after one night. Renovation work on the 3rd floor corridors left so much dust that a mask seemed sensible while waiting for the elevator. Parking can also be difficult if you arrive late, since domestic groups keep the hotel busy on weekends. It’s between the river Kwai bridge and the night market, but the pavements aren’t good for walking, so driving around is better. The price is extremely low, which may be the main reason to choose it. If you don’t need a pool, there are nearby places at similar prices that are newer, cleaner, and better equipped.

The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were wonderful. It was also surprisingly quiet, and the towels were a pleasant bonus.

We had a lovely stay, helped along by friendly staff, great daily room service, and a delicious breakfast each day. The location was handy too, just a short walk from the night market, Kwai River, Sky Glass Walk, and floating restaurants. Thank you for the warm hospitality.

The front desk worker was showing an attitude as soon as we walked in, and treated us Chinese differently from the white guy beside us, though I don’t know where he was from. I’d checked Agoda and saw 1044bhat, but when I arrived the price was raised to 1400bhat right in front of me, as if I were a fool. The worst experience I’ve had in this country.
