The Sleeper Homestay

After returning to Kanchanaburi, I spent just one night here. The kitchen had a toaster, fridge and microwave, and everything was very clean. It’s close to the train station and night market. You can hear the street, though it was quieter than the speedboats and party boats on the river. Lovely owner!

It felt like staying at a relative’s home, and during my nine nights in hot season I had the place to myself. The price was very affordable, especially in low season, and there were no cons for me. Auntie Waree was kind and generous, the WiFi was good, and there was a security system. The air con worked, the shower had adjustable hot water, and the twin mattress was firm. My bunk was cozy, with a student desk and stool, desk lamp, wall lamp by the bed and three shelves for storage. There was free soap and other toiletries, plus a basic breakfast available 24/7: toast, noodles, crackers and caffeinated drinks. I could use the fridge, microwave and toaster, and a bicycle was included. There’s a laundromat and simple non-vegetarian cooked food next door, and 7-11 is closer than the two big supermarkets, which are about 2 km away. Access to the tourist street is via Provincial Police. Nephew Boi’s music bar is right out front and closes promptly at midnight. There were also some extras I can’t mention because I don’t know whether they’re standard. In low season you might get a two-bed dorm to yourself.

The host was amazing, and the place was comfortable, spotless and super cheap. I absolutely loved it. They have rooms for groups as well as a couple suite, so definitely check them out!
