Chanalai Flora Resort, Kata Beach

Kata Beach was a short, easy walk away, so getting there each day was simple. The resort also has a spacious, clean swimming pool that worked well for relaxing and family time. The warm and attentive team went out of their way to make us comfortable, and their genuine hospitality stood out, especially with our five year old traveling with us. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and has a relaxing holiday feel. We had a memorable stay at Chanalai Flora Resort and would happily return on our next trip to Thailand. Great location, facilities, and service.

We were there for Halloween and the resort had decorations and fun activities, which made everything feel festive. The breakfast buffet offered a huge range, from local food to Western comfort dishes, and both pools were sparkling and lovely for relaxing. Though the hotel isn't right on the beach, it's only a short walk away, with little shops, cafes, and restaurants all around. We stayed just one night and were impressed. Staff welcomed us warmly, the rooms were spotless, bright, and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The beds were cozy too. We ordered room service and it arrived quickly and tasted delicious. It may not be beachfront, but it really does feel like a resort. I'd highly recommend it for the friendly staff, comfortable clean rooms, and thoughtful touches.

The staff were the biggest highlight. Everyone we met smiled, waved, and seemed happy to chat, and when we asked for something, it was arranged quickly and to our satisfaction. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, and we enjoyed the pools too. There was a bad musty smell coming from the toilet. I suppose that's something to expect in beach towns in Thailand. Breakfast was a letdown: the Thai and continental choices were both bland and tasteless, and the coffee from the breakfast machines was almost undrinkable. Those issues were minor for us, though, and we were happy to give the hotel five stars for the stay overall.

For our 25th wedding anniversary trip back to Phuket, we chose this hotel over the Beyond Kata, previously known as the Kata beach hotel, because of the room sizes and online reviews. We stayed 12 nights. After arriving on a late flight, we were greeted politely and courteously. We'd originally booked a garden view room because the executive sea view room we wanted wasn't available. Luckily, we were offered an upgrade and accepted. Hotel manager Maria gave exemplary service, and was friendly, polite, and courteous. From security guards to maintenance staff, everyone greeted us with smiles and genuine hospitality. The hotel was well maintained and presented. It had a bright, clean, functional gym, good size swimming pools, an excellent breakfast buffet with a great range of food, room service, and a terrace restaurant. Kata beach was a five minute walk away, and the hotel was central to the main shopping and restaurant areas in Kata. Housekeeping was excellent, and Jah je lay kept our room spotless throughout. We highly recommend Chanalai Flora and intend to return next year for the Christmas and New Year period.
