Naiharn On The Rock Resort Phuket

The rooms are tiny, and daily cleaning is something you have to request and pay for. The shower drain is at the far end of the bathroom, so showering leaves a paddling pool on the floor. There are no tissues or the other little things you might get at other hotels, and there’s no microwave. A shared outside kitchen is available, but it’s very dirty. We had food delivered and couldn’t heat it; by 8 pm all our Grab orders were cancelled, probably because it was too late or too far. Although the hotel faces the sea and has a nice view, it’s at the end of a narrow road with lots of cars, making it dangerous to walk with children. Keep in mind that restaurants in Nay Harn close by 9 pm, so you need to drive to Rawai for dinner. There is a pool, but it’s about the size of a jacuzzi. Don’t expect to swim or fit more than two people.

The location is nice, but I had a serious hygiene concern. I asked housekeeping to wash the spoons in my room and watched them use a sponge from the same bucket as a toilet brush. That’s clear cross-contamination between bathroom cleaning gear and eating utensils. I’d already used the spoons before seeing this, which I found unacceptable for health reasons. When I reported it, they apologized and brought “clean” cutlery, which I didn’t touch. I shouldn’t have to check whether my spoons were washed with a sponge from the toilet brush bucket. The toilet seat was also old and stained. I tried bleach twice, but it didn’t work.

The view and low price were the best parts, and the staff were friendly. They charge extra per night if you ask for more pillows or blankets, and it wasn’t the cleanest place I’ve stayed. Still, having the beach nearby and paying so little made it worthwhile.

It’s up on the hill by Naiharn beach, close to both the beach and the fishing point. The room was pretty shabby, but the price is cheap, so what can you expect.
