Paradise Cottage

The sunset views from the decks were beautiful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great, especially the coffee. The staff were incredibly polite, and the owner was so helpful, even driving us to a massage centre where I can say without a doubt I had the best massage in Thailand so far. It honestly felt like staying at a friend’s place. We’re really grateful for the stay at paradise cottage in koh chang. Thank you guys!

The food was decent, and the staff were kind, though they seemed scared of the manager. The room was also a problem: none of the electrical outlets worked, so we couldn’t charge our phones, the air conditioning took more than 10 minutes to start, the balconies were filthy and unusable, and the rooms weren’t properly cleaned. Older reviews mention the same cleaning complaints. We stayed with two friends and rented two scooters directly from the hotel. One had completely worn brakes and nearly caused an accident. The other had a slow leak that we couldn’t see at pickup. After 8 km its tire went flat, leaving us stranded in the jungle for an hour while we waited for help. Staff brought a replacement, which was fair, but then demanded 350 baht for a “new tire” that had already been half-flat when we got it. At checkout, when we refused to pay, the manager stormed in yelling, “WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM?!” There was no discussion or listening, just shouting at paying guests. She brought someone she called a mechanic from the scooter agency to pressure us, although the scooters had the hotel’s own stickers. It felt like a performance. We showed him the destroyed brakes, and he looked visibly shocked. The manager screamed louder, then dramatically took cash from the register, saying she’d “pay from her own pocket.” The whole scene seemed designed to intimidate and guilt-trip us. There are dozens of better places on Koh Chang. I wouldn’t give money to someone who yells at guests and rents dangerous scooters. To the owner, arriving in a brand-new Mercedes while trying to get 350 baht from tourists for your own faulty equipment doesn’t look good. Respect goes both ways.

The staff were amazing and made us feel at home right away, and the breakfast was terrific. It’s such a cozy place south of Lonely Beach. Special thanks to Pi for making us great Espresso Martinis on our last night while we watched the sunset. I’d definitely come back!

I stayed in a second-row condo, so the view wasn’t great, but the pool and staff were nice. The room was decently clean, and the fan worked. Visitors are strictly forbidden.
