The beach is an easy five-minute walk, with restaurants close by, and the rooms are clean and quiet in a lovely garden. We came without high expectations after reading the reviews, but ended up loving our stay. The reception staff were very helpful, and the woman there spoke excellent Italian, English, and Thai, perhaps more languages too. Breakfast had plenty of variety, though we'd been told at booking it began at 7:00, while it actually started at 8:00. You can use the neighboring hotel's pool for 100 baht a day, or avoid an extra charge by ordering coffee or something else. We even got pool towels at reception.

The owners were both very polite and spoke good English, but for the €54 ($64) we paid, I expected more from the rooms. There wasn't much space for luggage. The toilet and shower share one area. The AC was noisy, its airflow pointed at the bed, and the controls were limited. In my friend's room, the remote couldn't lower the temperature, and mine had no setting to adjust fan strength.

Kai Bae felt like the perfect location, and I think it's the best area on the island. I spent more than two months at the resort and was treated like family. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful, with tall trees and lush greenery that feels like a rainforest. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the bed had a great mattress. Highly recommend!
