Koh Kood BED's Mini-Hotel

The location is the one good thing: it’s within walking distance of nice cafes and the beach. Otherwise, this is a basic homestay at best, and not worth the price. The rooms have been made to look fancy, but the walls are hollow and it doesn’t feel truly upscale. It’s listed as a bed and breakfast, but they didn’t serve breakfast. The room was barely cleaned, coffee pods, tea and snacks weren’t replenished, and crumbs were left on the bed. Reception was unhelpful and uncooperative. We’d booked a speedboat and minivan back to Bangkok for checkout day, but the receptionist forgot to book it. Thankfully, the owner arranged the next one out. We ended up getting a ferry at the last minute, and she showed no consideration or real acknowledgment that she’d made a mistake.

We spent ten nights here and had a really relaxing stay without any problems. The bungalows are fairly spacious and comfortable, especially that heavenly bed. The cleaning lady came every day. There are only four rooms, and while the place isn’t directly on the beach, it’s a quiet walk of about 15-20 minutes. Bang Bao, the closest beach, was our favorite for swimming because the water is always calm. We rented a brand-new motorbike here for the same price as elsewhere. There’s no breakfast room, but there are plenty of options nearby. We usually ate later and liked Little 9 for the best cakes on Koh Kood and Rimleys for good prices and muesli.

We’ll definitely return. Jay was such a kind, thoughtful host and always ready to help. The rooms are roomy, clean, and well equipped, and we got a fresh, tasty breakfast each day. Renting a scooter was quick and easy, and you really need one on the island. I’d happily recommend the place.
