Easylife Bungalow

The family who own easy life were very kind and welcoming. The massaman curry was delicious, and I loved cuddling the kittens. I was looking for peace, simplicity, community, yoga or meditation classes, other solo travelers, and a stay in nature, so I chose the place based on its website and reviews. I visited near the end of low season, mid/end Oct, and only 2 other bungalows were occupied. It felt lonely, and the location was very remote, with nothing nearby unless you have a motorbike. After my first night without sleep, I made arrangements to stay somewhere else. Bugs, including mosquitos and ants, got in despite the mosquito net, there was loud music from another bungalow, and the light in my “private” bathroom had been left on, though I hadn’t left it on. I’d prepaid for 4 nights in cash when I arrived. The owner said he couldn’t refund me because he’d paid the electric bill with the money, which seemed weird. He offered another room, but I wanted to leave and enjoy my last few days on lanta somewhere else. It was a cheap stay, so I didn’t argue and left happily. Maybe it’s better in high season, but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.

The people were welcoming and so kind, and the food was good. The garden is beautiful!!!!! We booked the lowest price house. It was nice for a short stay, though there was no lock on the house. We didn’t ask for one, but thought there should be one. The shared bathroom was very basic and had no soap or toilet paper.

I went there to spend time at the site itself, not as a base for exploring elsewhere. I enjoyed volunteering to improve the bathing pool area, and wish I could have stayed longer to help Brother Mann, who’s a great guy and showed me a lot of kindness. Next time I’ll plan my stay better. The shelters are made of bamboo, with palm and banana leaves on top. They handle the occasional downpour, but don’t keep out monkeys or micro-ants. Sticky stuff on the platform legs might help, as could a folding bamboo trellis. The spring water was amazing, and the mud seems to have healing properties. My heat rash boils and sores improved after I applied the clay to my body. Bro Mann's wife Fah is a great cook. More comments later.

I stopped in on my way to Old Town and got a banana shake, then stayed a while to recharge before biking the rest of the way. The photos of the menu are posted for informational purposes. I connect with the story of this place, and it’s really neat that these folks share their wonderful space with visitors. I’d come back. Recommend.
