Golden Bay Cottage

The property is in a great spot, near the pier, the path to the beach, and some excellent nearby restaurants. Our room was spacious and clean, although there were ants in the bathroom. This was also the only shower on our trip where we couldn't attach our shower filter, which made traveling a bit difficult.

The location was excellent, with a beautiful beach right at the property. My partner and I first booked a garden bungalow. Since the hotel was almost empty in low season, we asked for a free upgrade, and they happily moved us to a much nicer bungalow beside the pool. The large, clean pool was the highlight of our stay. The service was great, and our room was clean and spacious. We would definitely stay again when we're in Ko Lanta.

We loved nearly everything about our stay at Golden Bay Cottage, except for the room's cleanliness. There were small black gnats flying around the shower and toilet in the bathroom. We had a superior room with a pool view. It was very basic, but that didn't bother us. The hotel's location is excellent, and we enjoyed the very short walk to the sea and pool, as well as happy hour and the sunsets. It was great value for money, and I'd recommend it to anyone staying in Koh Lanta.

The hotel owner is incredibly rude and loud. He doesn't live up to Thailand's well-known image of friendliness and hospitality, and he doesn't act as a business owner should. We booked five nights, but he humiliated us twice with rude warnings. First, I moved my sunbed because the sun was bothering me, and he nearly scolded me for it. The second incident was worse. I had spent the day ordering drinks at the restaurant, but while I was sitting on one of the simple chairs out front, most of which were empty, he approached rudely. Although I was a hotel guest, he harshly told me to move to the back if I wasn't ordering something at that moment. I'll never return and wouldn't recommend this place. The rooms are old, the beds are so uncomfortable they gave me back pain, the shower is awful, and everything feels third-rate. However cheap it is, you won't enjoy staying here. There are plenty of other hotels on the beach, so choose one of those instead.
