Southern Lanta Resort Hotel

This isn’t a luxurious hotel, but it fits the island vibe: have breakfast, then relax on the beach with a coffee. The rooms are very clean, staff friendly, and the apartments are large. For a seafront stay, choose a bungalow. There are three pools and a decent beachfront seating area with lots of sunbeds, though no umbrellas. Breakfast has a limited selection, but seems fine for a three-star hotel, with fresh fruit, fried eggs and omelettes. They also have a desk for island trips and offer a free transfer to Saladan pier once a day.

The area around the resort is touristy and not very nice, so I’d recommend renting a scooter to see the island and avoid the tourist traps nearby. The bungalow we had was very spacious and clean, and the resort is right beside a beautiful beach. There are several small pools on the grounds. There were lots of kids, but the resort is large enough that they’re spread out.

I didn’t expect much before arriving, but I was surprised by how nice the hotel was. It’s right by the ocean, set away from the main road, with good privacy. The room was clean and well organized, and the layout was nice. The staff were friendly too. We were there for diving, so we didn’t spend much time at the hotel. I do wish we could’ve stayed longer. Breakfast could use a few more options, but I really liked this place. Amazing!

We stayed from January 18-22, 2026. The stay was acceptable, though breakfast wasn’t special and room cleaning ran late. One day, after diving, we got back around 3:00 PM and the room still hadn’t been cleaned. That was inconvenient, but it wasn’t our main concern. On January 22, at about 4:00 PM, we needed a taxi to another hotel roughly 27 minutes away. The hotel quoted 1,000 THB, explaining it was because of the distance and our four bags. We were tired after diving and it was already late, so we agreed. At the next hotel, we were told the usual island rate for that distance was no more than 250 THB per person, luggage included. We found the fare upsetting and uncomfortable. Overcharging guests, whether Thai or foreign, is inappropriate and disappointing, and it affected how we felt about our stay.
