Beach Villa Phangan

The room is spacious and has nice views, but that’s where the good points end. The sofa looked like it had come from the trash, and some other equipment was in similar shape. The air conditioning didn’t seem clean, and greasy stains were left on many surfaces. The place has potential, but it isn’t well maintained. When we complained, we were told it was just our mindset. They also refused to shorten or cancel our stay with a refund.

We were so uncomfortable at Beach Villa Phangan that we cut our holiday short, and neither agoda nor the Beach Villa refunded the over 300 euros we lost. The apartment was generally clean, but the pillows had strange stains, so we returned them to the manager. The concrete furniture made the room feel small, and with the sofa bed there wasn’t enough space for four people. Our daughter hit her head on the concrete bed and needed stitches for the cut. Afterward, the manager asked for 1000 baht for the towel with her blood on it. The beach was tiny, dirty, and full of garbage. Reaching the pool meant walking a few steps along the road. The playground was unsafe for small children, with lots of broken things, and the trampoline couldn’t be used. The kitchen wasn’t well equipped, and the stove took 45 minutes to scramble eggs. What bothered us most was the manager messaging us on WhatsApp about how we should or shouldn’t behave. I don’t think he’s a bad person, but a tourism manager should have a service mindset.

The beach villa had a nice balcony and gave us quick access to the beach, which was great. We also enjoyed seeing a few monkeys, and having access to the padel court was a plus. It’s decent value if you’re okay with an authentic stay in poor conditions, but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it. The room was mediocre, old, and poorly maintained, tucked away in the jungle. There were lots of mosquitoes and other insects. Housekeeping came every other day but didn’t change the towels. Getting to the hotel is difficult without a scooter, and the way in wasn’t well lit.

My apartment was modern and comfortable, with an incredible view across Chaloklum bay. There’s also a lovely infinity pool and a small private beach with equipment. The service was professional and efficient, and the location puts you near the best beaches and restaurants. If you know and like Phangan, this is definitely an excellent choice. I’ll be back.
