Castaway Beach Bungalows

The two beach bungalows are a great option if you're willing to pay extra. We stayed in one, set further from the main road, and watching the sunset from our own terrace was priceless. The place is right by the sea, and the staff were very helpful. The food and cocktails were high quality, and I'd recommend staying here, even though it's quite expensive. One thing to know is that cleaning is available on request only. I missed having the bed made each day, and felt a little awkward asking for it. I also personally prefer breakfast to be included.

I came to eat and work, rather than stay overnight, and it had everything I wanted. The coconuts were fresh, the beach was lovely, and the shallow water went on for miles. There were some jellyfish, so you do need to be aware of them. The food was delicious: I had green curry and my boyfriend had cashew pineapple chicken.

The beachfront hut was something special for our two-night stay. It was lovingly built from natural materials, clean and well cared for, with thoughtful design throughout. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning was pleasantly quiet, and the view straight out to sea was stunning. You can step directly onto the beach from the hut. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the restaurant food was excellent, and vegetarian and vegan meals were no problem. The massage was a real highlight too. Ask for Sangval, hers was by far the best massage I've had on all my trips to Thailand. Check the tide times before you book. Depending on the season and tide, the water may not be right in front of the beachfront huts like some photos suggest. During our stay it was about 500 meters away in the daytime, and the high tide didn't come in until late at night, so the beach wasn't suitable for swimming during the day. That's not the hotel's fault, but it's something to know beforehand.

We've been here a week, and I was meant to leave today. I'm not leaving. Ever. This is the perfect holiday house in an ideal spot. We stayed in the one-bedroom bamboo house in February 2025, and it was spacious, comfortable and beautiful inside and out. It has a look that reminds me of how I imagine the island used to be, with all the modern things too: AC, WiFi, fans, hot water, a huge fridge and satellite TV. Everything worked, which somehow felt like a first for me in a holiday rental. You can tell a lot of love went into building and maintaining it. And then there's the balcony and that view. I could sit there all day, and honestly would have been happy if the whole beautiful house had consisted of that balcony alone. 100 stars!
