Haad Chao Phao Resort

I've never had a worse hotel experience. The bed was the hardest I've ever slept on, and I don't think the sheets were even clean. The room was in terrible condition, with the shower positioned above the toilet. They started construction at 8 am, so sleeping was impossible. The hostess was the meanest person I've ever met and had no problem insulting guests.

I only landed here because every other hotel in the area was full. The bungalow floor sloped so much that things rolled around, and being in the room sometimes felt like being on a rollercoaster. The room was dirty, there was no hot water in the shower, and I felt uncomfortable and unclean during my stay. The only remotely reasonable part was the rate of 800 baht a night. Even so, I think it's extremely overpriced and not worth even 400 baht.

The patio was great, with a hammock out front, and all the plants around it made it feel far from the city. The rooms are pretty basic for the price, with an old, worn-out mattress that was very unpleasant to sleep on. The bathroom needs work too, and adding AC would be nice. With a little investment, this could be a great place to stay.

I deeply regret booking Haad Chao Pao Hostel. For the price, you can find much better places to stay, and if you care about your well-being, don't book here. A barely livable hostel, by far the worst I've encountered. The room's exit door had a large gap at the top, so mosquitoes, reptiles, and spiders could get in at night. There were also gaps in the floor. With only one toilet paper roll provided, I had to use it to plug them because I couldn't sleep thinking spiders might crawl in. The shower failed several times, leaving us unable to shower or brush our teeth after a night out. A snake appeared on a guest porch. People screamed for help, but no staff came. A brave stranger from the hostel moved it safely without protective gear. The lack of response was alarming. At check-in, nobody offered a smile or even a simple good morning, and there was no one to help with luggage. The bar is the main hub, but the coffee is too small for the price. The woman who runs the place was sarcastic and unfriendly, sometimes laughing at my expense, and gave off a very unpleasant vibe. Every request felt like too much.
