Lucky Homestay - Hostel

If you're a backpacker hesitating because of the reviews, I'd say stay here. The location is close enough to the party, but the walk back gives you a little breathing space. The place is a bit run down, but the owner keeps it really clean, even through the New Year's rush. She was one of the kindest hostel owners I've met, and the claims that she's rude don't match my experience at all. She gave us cookies every day and drinks on NYE. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We rented a bike from Lucky Hostel, or at least from the shop downstairs if that's a separate business, and kept it for three days. When we returned it, the man working there ran out shouting and demanding to know what we'd done to it. He was very loud and aggressive, and I immediately felt threatened. We'd filmed the bike before renting it. It came back with only a tiny scratch on the exhaust mudguard, which seemed like ordinary wear from dusty, gritty roads. The woman from the shop arrived with paper, pointed at mud, and said we owed her money. We'd cleaned the bike and there weren't any scratches. I tried speaking politely to the man, but he was rude and aggressive again. He told me not to talk to him and said he'd only speak to the man with the money, meaning my partner. He said he doesn't speak with ladies, which I found highly offensive. They kept shouting and demanded 4,000 THB. We were completely shocked by how we were treated. It felt like a rip-off and an attempt to cheat tourists, with very unfriendly service. Don't rent a bike here!

The shower was covered in mold, and the staff were very unfriendly. We left early.

Such a wonderful stay.
