Sky Cottage

The beach is only a few minutes away, and both the water and shore were really clean and beautiful. The hotel has a small three-story building plus some bungalows, all recently renovated. I stayed in the building while my mom had a bungalow. It was quieter in hers, since the building’s soundproofing is poor and I could hear music from the nearby cafe late into the evening. Breakfast is buffet style, and the pancakes are pretty good. I’d also read that the walk uphill from the beach is difficult. That may be true for someone very old or unwell, but I found it easy enough.

A modern, affordable place that felt safe to stay in. Breakfast and WiFi were included, and having laundry right next door was a nice bonus.

I come back to this hotel whenever I visit Koh Samet. It’s nicely away from the busy, noisy streets, but the beach is close and Sunset Beach is an easy walk too. The hotel looks pretty, and I really like the breakfast. The toilet was the one annoyance. It sometimes wouldn’t flush properly and could make loud noises at night 🙈

The beach is just down the road, about a three-minute walk, even though Google Maps estimated ten minutes. It was lovely, with clear, clean water and fewer people around. My husband and I had a great stay. Our room and bed were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was much more generous than we expected, with eggs, fruit, fried rice, pancakes and noodles.
