COSI Samui Chaweng Beach

The location is fantastic, which makes it hard to understand why the hotel is in such poor condition. Our room was badly maintained and not clean, with very few amenities. The buildings felt dilapidated, and the heat and humidity seemed to be everywhere. It felt more like a hostel than a proper hotel. We couldn't afford to find somewhere else at the last minute, but if we could have, we would have moved. The photos are from when we first entered the bedroom. I want to be clear that this isn't about the staff, who were polite and friendly. In hindsight, I'd have chosen somewhere a little farther from the center if it were in better shape and cozier.

The location is hard to beat: right by a huge shopping mall and on the main beach road, with bars, restaurants, and a public beach nearby. We also appreciated the credits for snacks and drinks at the reception cafe, and despite the issues, we enjoyed our stay. The room badly needed a deep clean. The carpet was covered in stains, and walking barefoot turned our feet black within minutes. There was dirt on the walls that could have been wiped away, and a wet wipe we used on arrival came away filthy. Some towels were stained and threadbare. Reception made a poor first impression. The staff didn't greet us and were very unfriendly, especially Honey and another older, light-skinned lady. Other staff were fairly friendly, though we had to greet most of them first each day. We asked the tour desk twice about a private driver to Krabi and never heard back. They were no help.

There was only one power outlet, which is almost laughable, and the whole place feels like a hostel converted into a hotel. The room was tiny, stuffy, and extremely humid, with no opening window or balcony. The corridors were damp too and smelled of mold and mari..ana. I got sick from the humidity during my stay. It was impossible to sleep in those conditions. Absolutely not recommended.

Cosi is right in the middle of Chaweng, close to the beach and all the bars and restaurants, so the location is hard to beat. The hotel has a fun vibe, a great pool, and a co-working space. Being able to book tours and ferries inside was handy too. The staff were really lovely, especially Mr T, and made our stay even better. We had a great time and would stay again.
