The setting around the Lotus Villas is the real draw: the lake side is peaceful, lovely, and well looked after, with a pool facing the mountains. Villas on the paddy-field side seemed more neglected, and that pool didn’t look very appealing. The grounds are split between those two areas, and choosing a Lotus Villa made a big difference for us. Ours was spacious, with teak details, a large terrace overlooking the lotus lake, two roomy closets, a mini fridge, bottled water each day, and a beach bag with two towels. They also arranged towels nicely for our anniversary after we mentioned it when booking. Staff cleaned the room daily and we often saw them tending the grounds. The bathroom felt out of step with the rest of the villa, with dark gray walls, black stone floors, and white lighting. Shower pressure varied, hot water took a while to come through, and a big plastic sign warning not to flush paper made it feel cheap. Farmers Villa is in the quieter Mae Nam area, but there are good cafes and restaurants nearby. A 7/11, restaurant, and café are within a five-minute walk, and Fisherman’s Village is about a 10-15 minute scooter ride depending on traffic. It’s right off the main road. The place is beautiful, though the four-star label may set expectations too high: it felt more like villa accommodation by a lake than a full-service hotel. There was no restaurant or room service, and the packed-up tables and chairs suggested the restaurant might be under renovation. We saw someone at reception only twice during our six nights. If you want a peaceful, scenic stay in a Lotus Villa, it can be a lovely retreat, as long as you’re not expecting full hotel services.

We spent more than two months here and enjoyed every bit of it. The property is huge and open, with bungalows among greenery and some right by the water. It’s in Maenam, Koh Samui, Thailand, close to a lovely beach, restaurants, massage spots, bars, and laundromats. There’s even a small shared kitchen if you want to use it. Both swimming pools are large and well maintained, and the grounds feel peaceful and close to nature. The staff and owners are so kind and ready to help with requests, and rooms are cleaned every day. A really relaxing place to stay.

Kay made us feel welcome from the start, and our stay at Farmers villa was so good. Some older reviews may have been fair at the time, but the place doesn’t feel worn now, it’s really great. We’re here in peak season and the room with the pool is a good deal, so I’d recommend booking that. Come stay with Kay, you won’t regret it! 😍

For a quiet getaway, this was just right. I stayed in a Lotus Villa in March 2025, and it was peaceful, with birds and lizards audible day and night. The road is fairly close, but traffic barely made itself heard. Staff were very friendly and worked hard to keep everything clean. There are a couple of local restaurants and a 7/11 nearby, though there isn’t much else to do in the area.
