SAWAN Pool Villas Residence

The staff are the best part. We had unreliable electricity in our villa, but they responded kindly to our concerns and moved us to another one. We’re much more comfortable now. The pool has been wonderful, and it’s quiet and private. Good restaurants and beaches are close by. There’s plenty of outdoor seating, but not much indoors. A couple of armchairs in each villa would help.

The property’s a bit old, but good enough for the price, and we enjoyed our 12-night family stay. It would be nice to have air-conditioning in the living room. The air-conditioning wasn’t enough during the daytime.

The staff at Sawan were attentive and very helpful. These are lovely little villas, about a 15-minute walk from local shops and the beach. I’d definitely stay at Sawan again.

We paid 65,000 baht a month for the long-term rental, plus 1,000 baht for water, and the standard didn’t justify that price. Electricity at 8 baht per kWh is far too much for Samui. I’d never recommend staying here because of the owners’ poor and dishonest behavior. We stayed at Sawan Poolvilla for five months with our two children. The location is good, within walking distance of Lamai beach, the market, and the centre of Lamai. The outdoor area was nice, with a large pool, garden, and pleasant veranda. The receptionist on site was always helpful and tried to sort out problems with the owner. The villa itself is old and needs updating to meet today’s standards. The kitchen wasn’t very functional, with just two old-style cooking plates and a small fridge. There was old furniture, only cold water from the tap, hard mattresses, and tiny bathrooms that seemed close to falling apart. We had a one-year contract but wanted to move after six months. We understood that we’d lose one month’s rent for leaving early. The trouble started when we asked for the damage deposit and the overpayment on the electric bill. The contract said the deposit would be returned on checkout day, but it took 16 days to get only some of the money back. She kept 5,100 baht. We spent hours trying to reach her. Several times she promised to pay that day, but didn’t. She was rude and accused us of going after her staff. We had to contact the staff because she’d blocked our calls, but they couldn’t help since the manager had told them not to.
