The Bulin Residence

We spent a week here with our two kids and had a really nice room with a cozy patio that worked well for a family. The rooms were very clean, and the staff welcomed us warmly. They saw we had children and let us check in five hours early. There are lots of handy spots nearby: a barber just around the corner, 7-Eleven three minutes away, and the Lamai Night Market within a 15-minute walk with a stroller. The nearby beaches are beautiful, clean and kid-friendly. The lively street has restaurants at fair prices, plus a free outdoor gym where you can leave a tip, about a five-minute walk away. This place is a value-for-money gem in paradise. I can only encourage people to ignore the fake cockroach reviews. 100% recommend.

I'm still here, and so far it's been good value for money. The room is really nice, and the people who clean it and do your laundry are lovely. The beach and gym are a three-minute walk away. There's a barber, 7/11, a massage place and some good food nearby too. Great location!

We booked four nights but had to leave in less than 24 hours. During the first night, a big cockroach was on my friend's face. More came out from under the wardrobe and from the bathroom. The worst part was that they could fly. We left the room and returned the next day for our luggage and checkout. The woman who checked us in wasn't there. We spoke to someone who didn't introduce himself and explained why we wanted a refund and couldn't stay. He started yelling, said it was our fault and that we should have caught the cockroaches. He also claimed he'd never heard of anything like this there. The dirt on the room's front and back balconies made it seem very possible to me. If they'd simply apologized, I wouldn't have posted this. Instead they blamed us. Worst customer experience. I'd definitely avoid this place and the people running it.

We couldn't sleep there after what happened on our first night. Around 1 a.m. I woke up to a huge cockroach on my face. When we turned on the lights, another was crawling on the bed. It was enormous and fast. Then more appeared, five in total, and they were big enough to fly short distances. We spent the rest of the night outside looking on Booking for somewhere else. In the morning we collected our bags and looked for the woman who had welcomed us so we could return the key and explain. She wasn't there. Another woman didn't speak English, so she called someone, presumably the owner, and handed me the phone. I explained why we were leaving and asked for a refund and for them to fix the problem for future guests. He yelled, called us liars, and said they'd never had cockroaches and we'd made it up. I said we had proof and asked him to stop shouting, but he was furious and wouldn't listen. I wished him a good day and hung up. I don't recommend this place.
