Srisuksant Square (SHA Extra Plus)

There are great restaurants nearby, plus a 7eleven and plenty of ATMs. The cafe downstairs was handy for computer work and for waiting before check-in or after checkout. We stayed three nights in a private room at Srisuksant Square, and it was the cleanest room we’d seen in a while. Service was attentive without hovering, and daily room service was available when requested. We’re really glad we chose it, and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from the busy tourist scene in Southern Thailand.

I appreciated the female-only dorm and the location, but I didn’t sleep well either of my two nights. People in the dorm made a lot of noise and kept switching the big light on and off until 2 a.m. The bed was too hard, though the pillow was okay, and the cover felt like a huge towel and wasn’t comfortable. There was no drinking water, a first for me in two months of travel. The shower doors don’t lock.

Good prices, and the place has a chill, simple, cosy feel. The owner is friendly, and the plants are especially lovely. There’s a nice selection of green ladies, plus our little friend with its little cap. Sunny has a few different types of the little guy too. Really good place, highly recommend!

I wouldn’t stay here again. It’s a very basic hostel, and the private rooms don’t have nightstands. The receptionists don’t speak English, though they act like they do. They also wouldn’t call a taxi and told me to use Grab instead, which is unreliable at 6 a.m.
