My friend arrived in Thailand with a serious dental problem, and we thought she might have to abandon the trip and fly straight back to England. Khun Om immediately drove us to one of Trat’s best dentists and waited there for more than two hours while my friend was treated, giving her own time and money. Her kindness saved our holiday, and we continued on to the islands the next morning. That says a lot about the people running Suchanaree Resort. Khun Om is honest, trustworthy, and kind, and her family and staff are just as welcoming. Together they run a very well organised budget resort with real care for their guests. If you’re staying in Trat while travelling to the islands, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s budget friendly and run with heart. We wish Khun Om and her family every success. They deserve the excellent reputation their business has earned.

Om and her family were all lovely, especially her father. I was told that after guests leave, he checks the rooms for anything left behind and they contact the guests if they find something. For a small fee, Om can drive guests to the airport or boat. I had tooth trouble when I arrived. She drove me to a dentist in Trat, translated for me, waited with me for more than two hours, drove me back, and later checked on me in the evening. The room was clean and quiet, and very close to the speed boat for Ko Mak. Wonderful people and amazing service.

Our host met us at the harbor when we arrived on the mainland, then arranged transport to the airport for us. We stayed in a lovely little bungalow, peaceful enough that all we could hear was nature. I’d happily recommend this place. Thanks again to our amazing host!

A great little spot. Oom, our host, is a lovely person and incredibly helpful, and the house cat is cute. You can walk to the black mangroves nearby, but you’ll need a motorbike to get to the other mangroves. Anaree restaurant, the village, and the lighthouse are within walking distance too. It’s a perfect stopover between Bangkok and the islands if your flight is delayed, which happens often.
