Tha Ma-O Bouteak Homestay

Our family room worked well for two nights with our two dogs. If there aren’t other guests around, you can let your pets play in the garden. I’d stay here again on a future visit to Lampang.

The owner’s service was sweet and welcoming. This lovely little homestay sits on the other side of the big town, with greenery and small local streets all around. It’s a peaceful place to stay while visiting Lampang city.

The room was clean and spacious, but breakfast wasn’t what I expected from the page. I thought it would be Northern-style khantoke, but it was packaged food poured into a cold morning meal. They would have been better off simply saying they offered coffee and bread.

The room is spacious, especially the bathroom, and the bed, pillows, and blankets were soft and smelled nice. But the stay had several problems. We’d told the admin we’d check in late, yet when we called to say we were nearly there, the person who answered sounded irritated and unfriendly. The housekeeper also seems to have missed food in the refrigerator. It had thawed and smelled awful; staff guessed it was preserved strawberries left by a previous guest. There was an empty shampoo sachet on the bathroom soap dish, probably left by someone before us. Of the three door locks, only one worked, which made us feel insecure since the room is so close to the fence. The TV signal kept cutting out, and you could hear everything from inside and outside because the room wasn’t soundproof. I understand that noise may be beyond the accommodation’s control, but they could still do better. The guesthouse is deep inside a village, down narrow roads, so I wouldn’t recommend arriving at night.
