Chadaporn Mae Chaem Hotel

The staff were friendly, smiling and nice. We paid 650 for a twin room with breakfast, and the room was very good: comfortable beds, quality linens, spotless cleaning and lovely views all around. Breakfast was Thai-style self-service, with fried rice, eggs, rice porridge, toast with jam, 3-in-1 coffee, tea and oranges. The problem was our third and last night, when a large group of Thai people had booked 25 rooms. They sat a few metres from our room, drank alcohol and were drunk, loud and disturbing by 11 p.m. We called the hotel manager, who stopped them, but they were noisy again once back in their rooms. We couldn’t sleep before 1 a.m. Without that incident, I’d have rated the hotel five stars. We’ve unfortunately experienced situations like this in Thailand often. They were low-level, impolite and rude people.

A rural spot with lovely grounds and free breakfast, and great value. The beds felt a bit hard to me, but they were clean and the air conditioning worked. There are lots of nice little places to sit and watch the sunset with a cold beer.

The rooms are a nice size, with a fridge, air conditioning and plenty of plug points. Staff were enthusiastic and helpful, and breakfast was basic but good. It’s clean, practical and good value, set among a beautiful plantation of maize fields, rice paddies and gardens. The advertised bicycles weren’t available to rent, which was a pity since we wanted to explore the area.

A good place to stop between Mae Hong Son and Doi Inthanon. Staff were very friendly, and the room was nice with everything you need. The bathroom had a separate shower. Breakfast was included, with eggs, fried rice and Milo. The bed was quite hard, but we’re used to that by now. There’s not a whole lot to do in town, though there are a few nice local restaurants.
