Akantuka Homestay

The bed was a big king size, though the bathroom was tiny. The decor felt tacky, with plastic flowers, but the service was good. It wasn't run down, though a few things needed maintenance. The included food was basic, while the things we ordered tasted good. Probably suits groups.

There were six or seven buckets on the dining room floor catching water from the ceiling, and the resort could use some maintenance. The setting itself is stunning, but the food and service let it down. Our order was forgotten until we went to the kitchen to ask about it.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and well equipped, and the price was reasonable. Our group of 21 motorcycle riders took 13 rooms. We enjoyed the big pool, the delicious meal, and the amazing views in this quiet spot, with nature all around making it a calming place for meditation. One thing to plan around: the kitchen closes early, so dinner needs to be ordered before 7 p.m. The restaurant and drinks stay open as long as you order. We had a good stay and will come back to try the other rooms.

The cheaper rooms at the back felt more like employee housing than part of the resort. The nicer ones cost more, and still didn't look particularly nice. Calling it a 'Homestay' seems like a misnomer, since the place appears geared more toward large groups and conventions than tourists or travelers. The resort itself is pleasant, with a large pool, good restaurant, and well kept grounds.
