Srivichai Hotel

The price was favorable, and the rest of the room worked, though I didn't use the old TV or the large AC unit on the floor beside the bed. This is an older hotel in the town center. It has a restaurant with indoor and roadside outdoor seating that looked nice, but I didn't have time to eat there. Coffee and other things were available in a room beside reception in the morning. Parking is accessed from the street behind the hotel.

A really bad experience. They sold our room to someone else and only wanted more money for a better, double room. I looked elsewhere and booked another hotel. Don't stay here, it felt like a scam.

The price felt fair, maybe a little high for a renovated Chinese-Thai hotel. I only stayed one night, and the helpful staff, comfortable mattress, cozy comforter, free self-serve coffee from 05:00 to 10:00, and two good glass bottles of water were all positives. My room faced the back and was very quiet, with a view of Wat. Cable TV came in well and the remote batteries worked. There’s an elevator, which mattered since I wasn’t up for climbing four flights to a higher-standard room nearby. Some rooms have a bathtub with very hot water if you want one. The door has a hasp where you can add your own lock, and there’s one for the closet too. It’s downtown, close to the night market and about a 15-minute walk from the fancy mall. A corner bar might make front-facing rooms noisy. The elevator had no license or inspection notice posted, which bothered me. I deliberately caught my arm in it to make it open, but it didn’t release as I expected and it hurt. I was also annoyed by the City leaving large sewer-work holes open at night, unlit, unmarked, and unprotected. The bathroom had other issues: only the shower spigot gave hot water, and the plug didn’t fit well enough to fill the tub. The sink water was very cold and its spigot needed repair. The drinking glasses had lots of fingerprints, so I suspect they weren’t washed with hot water and soap. The paper covers felt like theatre. The air conditioner screens were screwed shut, presumably with no filters.

For the low room rate, we really couldn’t complain. The room was basic but adequate, and the location is excellent, near the flower market, street food area, and old bus terminal. It’s an older hotel that’s been renovated.
