The restaurant in the pretty garden courtyard had a large menu without being overwhelming, plus a big vegetarian selection. I was there for a long stay and found plenty of vegetarian dishes to try. The guesthouse is right on the promenade, with touristy restaurants about 100 meters away and plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby. I stayed three nights in Room 22, on the ground floor of a two-storey building. There was an extra door out to the promenade. The room matched the pictures and had lots of rattan-style furniture that gave it a traditional feel. It came with a safe, fridge, fan, AC, rattan rack, and several shelves. There was a low wooden chair but no desk, and the chair suited someone of Asian stature. The mattress was a bit softer than a typical Asian-style one, but still very comfortable. The windows faced the promenade, and there were mosquitoes. I wasn't in the room much, so it didn't bother me too much. There were curtains, and the mosquito nets over the bed worked well. I guess mosquitoes are everywhere in Thailand. I had a great stay. The staff were welcoming, helpful, well trained, and efficient even by high Thai standards. They and the hotel website offered lots of information about things to do in Nong Khai.

I love the garden atmosphere, especially sitting under the patio with a beer or some food, chatting, and looking across the picturesque Mekong River to Laos. Mutt Mee has a refreshing feel, and I always look forward to going. Leaving is a little sad. I hope I can make a few trips there in 2026. I've been coming to Mutt Mee for over four years, and it has a special place in my heart. It's a uniquely charming, characterful place that feels rustic and authentic in a world that can seem short on that. I have a cordial relationship with the owners, Julian and Pao, and can only speak highly of them. They're kind and genuine, have gone out of their way for me, and have been flexible rather than driven only by profit. I can honestly say they look after me. Their staff are friendly and helpful too.

We didn't stay here, but stopped for breakfast. The location was superb and the price reasonable. The coffee was okay, and in my opinion the food was average, with more farang choices than Thai if that's what you want. The garden is really special, though, and it's a perfect place to sit for a long time with a friend and ponder life.

Mut Mee was a convenient base on Nong Khai's riverside promenade, close to lots of restaurants and bars. Our group of four was on a cycling holiday along the Mekong and stayed two nights in December 2025. The rooms vary from budget to basic but well appointed, and having a private bathroom was worth the extra. My room was basic but clean and comfortable. Staff and owner were friendly. It was a treat to spend an hour or so with Ben, the owner's delightful, engaging young son. He added to the enjoyment of our stay. We'd all stay again.

A cute guesthouse with basic, economical rooms. It's right on the river, with trees and plants all around, so the setting is scenic. Restaurants and coffee shops are an easy walk away.
