Oakwood Suites Tiwanon Bangkok Hotel

I’ve used Oakwood for corporate apartments around the world, and this place was great. It was clean and inexpensive, with good food and excellent service. Nonthaburi is quite far out in greater Bangkok, so you don’t find the usual Marriotts or Westin here, but I’d recommend this place.

The fruit at breakfast was good, but the rest was a letdown. The eggs were cold, and there was no ham or bacon. They cook large amounts in advance and leave it on the counter until the bain-marie is empty, so the food is cold by the time it’s served. In the photo, fried eggs had been sitting there for at least 15 minutes and still hadn’t been put into the bain-marie. For a better-rated hotel, I expected more. We booked because the room looked nice for an overnight stay and we expected to check out around 11am the next day. The room was adequate, the bed comfortable, and on the 27th floor there was no noise except in the corridor. But when we arrived, we were told the power would be off from 9am until 2pm the next morning. No lights, AC or elevator from the 27th floor, nothing. We’d paid good money expecting checkout at 12pm, but had to leave the room by 9am.

The apartment-style room was spacious, nicely designed, and comfortable, with a real home-away-from-home feel. The amenities covered everything I needed for an easy, relaxing stay. Staff were very friendly and attentive, and went out of their way to make the experience memorable. I had a phenomenal stay at Oakwood Suites Tiwanon and would absolutely come back on my next visit to Bangkok.

The rooftop bar has a great view, and the location works well for Nonthaburi. This is a pretty new condotel with simple furnishings, though the room was fine and the bed comfortable. Water pressure was very low on the 30th floor, and the shower amenities were basic. The staff seemed to be having a bad day while we were there.
