Chalalai Hotel Krabi

For a late flight in or an early one out, this place is handy because it’s near the airport. The rooms are basic but clean, and breakfast is simple, with tea, coffee, toast and eggs if you ask. I tried messaging a few times about check-in and an airport transfer, but replies came very slowly, so I had to arrange the ride elsewhere. The bed was also much too firm for me.

We picked this hotel for its airport location before a morning flight. The room was spacious, very clean and quite pleasant. Staff did try to help, though the hotel is basic and there wasn’t much they could offer. Since so many guests are heading to the airport, it would be helpful if breakfast were available before 8.

The only real drawbacks for me were the lack of a lift and the planes overhead. It’s near the end of the runway, so they’re loud inside, though the airport isn’t especially busy and it didn’t bother me much. Otherwise, the price was very good and a simple breakfast was included. The large room had a balcony, a big comfortable bed, good hot water pressure, a mini fridge, two bottles of water, shampoo, and switches and plugs beside the bed. I think the hotel is only about two years old. I’d definitely stay again.

The reception staff were lovely, and the location near the airport worked well. Our room and bathroom were clean, the shower had nice hot water, and there were two bottles of water in the room. Breakfast came with toast, butter, jam, juice, tea and coffee, and the omelette with a little fresh tomato and pineapple tasted good, though it was runny and needed more cooking. Sleep was difficult. Our room, one floor above reception, faced the road and the traffic noise was extremely loud. The mattress was the hardest I’ve ever slept on, and I prefer a soft one, so I was uncomfortable and barely slept. The curtains also let in a lot of streetlight. There’s no hand soap, so I used the shampoo, and the tiny freezer was unusable because it was packed with ice and needed defrosting. The steps are very high and there’s no lift, so bags have to be carried upstairs. It would also be nice to have bananas and cereal at breakfast, rather than only toast as an alternative.
