Velora Bay Koh Jum

We ended up wishing we could stay longer, but the place was sold out. It was so chilled and relaxing, and we honestly loved it here. The private beach was great, and you can kayak for free. The room was comfortable, with a good bed, great air conditioning, a warm shower, a safe, kettle, free toiletries, and a fridge. It also had a nice little deck with a very comfortable hammock and seats. Breakfast was brilliant, and there are restaurants very close by, plus a lovely beach just a few minutes’ walk away. We didn’t eat at the restaurant out front, so can’t comment on it. The staff were incredibly friendly. Kira was so sweet, the breakfast staff were very nice, and the beach bartender was funny. We rented our first scooter in Thailand here for 300 baht a day, and it was super easy. A few things to know: the walk up from the private beach could be strenuous for some. I’m quite clumsy on my feet but found it fine, and there were banisters to hold on to. Quite a few dogs roam around, especially a black one. I love dogs, but in Thailand I’m cautious around ones without collars, just in case. He was fine, though I can see how it might feel intimidating to some. It rained extremely hard on our second night and was so loud it sounded like the roof might cave in, ha! One morning the dogs howled at 6 a.m. for about ten minutes.

The rooms were very clean, spacious, and comfortable, and everything felt new. The location in a quiet part of Koh Jum, right beside the beach, was excellent. Staff were super friendly and helpful, even offering to collect us from the pier. They also served a delicious breakfast, had kayaks to borrow for free, and provided access to a cool rock bar right on the beach. A great stay at a very reasonable price for this standard of accommodation. We’d definitely return and recommend it.

The beach right by the resort is a little stony, though there’s a sandy one just a five-minute walk away. You can borrow a canoe for free, and the tuk-tuk pickup from the pier is free too. The staff were very helpful and tried to make everything we needed or wanted possible. The rooms had more than we needed in such a great area, the water ran, and they were cleaned every day if you wanted. Breakfast was good.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly the whole time. The beach next to the hotel is a bit rocky, but there’s a great one nearby. A great place to stay in Koh Jum!
