77 Patong Hotel & Spa

The rooftop pool and bar were a great place to relax after the busy streets, and the pool stays open until 9:00 PM. Patong 77 Hotel & Spa is beside the Bangla Boxing Club, about 700 meters from Patong Beach and 400 meters from Bangla Road, which worked well for getting to both the beach and nightlife. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a kettle, cups, and glasses. It also had a bathtub, a nice extra after a day out. There’s an optional buffet breakfast for THB 200 per head.

We won’t be coming back, and I can’t recommend the hotel after this stay. There were six of us in four rooms, and we expected basic courtesy and professional service. Instead, the reception left us with a very poor impression. We rarely write negative reviews, but management should address the front desk’s customer service training. Check-in was especially bad. The reception staff weren’t welcoming, communication was poor, and they seemed unprofessional. After a long trip, we felt ignored and uncomfortable. At check-out, we politely asked for a receptionist’s name because of what had happened. She got defensive and argued with us instead of handling the request calmly. That was shocking and unacceptable for someone working in customer service. The reception team represents the hotel, and in our experience they didn’t meet even basic hospitality standards.

The location was reasonably convenient, but that was about the only tolerable part of the stay. From check-in through check-out, it felt stressful, like paying to have a miserable time. I wouldn’t return or recommend the place. The room had mosquitoes, which made it hard to relax or sleep. Its condition, cleanliness, and general quality were nowhere near the photos, which felt misleading. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. When we asked the front desk for basics like drinking water and tissue paper, they acted as though the request was a burden.

The location made it easy to walk to Patong Beach, and both the room and washroom were clean and well kept. The hotel also kept in touch well from the time I booked through Agoda. They arranged airport pickup and drop for 800 THB one way, which was convenient. I had a positive stay and would recommend it. A couple of things to know: there’s a 1000 THB security deposit at check-in, and the hotel may charge if you spill or damage something. I chose to pay at the hotel and had no trouble paying when I arrived.
