Anona Beachfront Phuket Resort

The room’s condition was awful. There were blood marks on the duvet, dirty sofas, hair all over the bathtub, an unclean sink, and stained mirrors. We’d booked a studio and paid much more than at other nearby hotels, so walking into that was especially disappointing. We complained and showed photos, but had to wait a while for anyone to investigate. Staff wouldn’t refund us. They offered a free upgrade, but by then the poor cleanliness had already left us disgusted. Communication was bad, and they made little effort to understand or acknowledge our concerns. It was an appalling stay. No guest should arrive to those unhygienic conditions.

The beach is right across the road, and there are plenty of activities within walking distance. We stayed for two nights in late November and had a great time. The breakfast buffet had an excellent range, and the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout. We’d happily come back.

The biggest problem was the smell in the rooms. The drains don’t seem to be vented, so sewage odors come inside. When that smell wasn’t there, it was the chemicals the cleaner seemed to have poured down the drains. The rooms weren’t cleaned properly either, as the photos show. After other guests left, someone’s packet of white powder was left on a cupboard they hadn’t opened. I don’t know what it was, but I assume it was drugs. There’s no soundproofing. The connecting doors let you hear everything from next door. First there was a family screaming, then people having sex, and weed being smoked. The locks on those doors are a joke, they look like an abused public toilet. I booked breakfast for my first three days and only went once. For the next three days I booked without it, then booked it again for my final day, but they refused to provide it. I know for sure I had booked breakfast that day. They told me I’d booked through an outside company, so the mistake wasn’t their problem. After staying there for a whole week, I expected them to accommodate me. I was treated like rubbish and basically told off in the breakfast room. I normally don’t leave bad reviews, but that treatment made me do it. I hope the management changes and someone runs this place properly. The hotel blamed me for the breakfast issue instead of helping. There are much better places to stay for better prices. Anona Beachfront Phuket Resort was a relaxing place to stay. It’s clean and comfortable, with reasonable room service, and the price felt fair for a spot right beside the beach. This part of the area is quieter than other parts of Patong. I had a great stay and would recommend visiting.
