BearPacker Patong Hostel

We’re so happy we chose Bear Packer hostel over the many other places nearby. The location is hard to beat: the beach is right across the street, with shops including the essential 711 lol, dining, activities, and fun all around. The staff and lovely owner are very friendly and helpful, and there’s always someone available who speaks excellent English. I also love that it’s a woman-owned business. We’re in the affordable deluxe room called PANDA 2. It has one of the biggest beds I’ve ever seen, no joke, maybe about 11 feet wide, with great sheets and bedding. The water pressure is strong, the water gets hot, the AC works well, and the Wi-Fi hasn’t dropped once. We’ve spent a lot of time on the cute little round window-seat couch in the room. There’s also a jetted swimming pool on the roof. We’ve extended our stay twice because we love it here and don’t want to move on. Kind staff and very good value. I’d definitely recommend it.

Our double room was noisy from outside until midnight every day, smelled bad, and had a leaking sink. The room wasn’t made up for two days in a row. When we asked about it, staff said we had to request it every morning, which seemed quite unusual. There’s a no-shoes policy, so I left mine on the rack outside. They were gone the next day and I had to buy another pair. Then, on day three, my original shoes suddenly turned up again, filthy.

The ladies at the front greeted my boyfriend and me as soon as we arrived for our stay from 12/31-1/4, and check-in went very smoothly. Remember to bring Baht for the deposit. Our private room and bathroom had just the right amount of space, great AC, plenty of clothing storage, a mini fridge, and a safe, which we were especially pleased to have. For the price, we were very satisfied with the cleanliness, location, and staff. I’d book here again if we’re in Patong.

It’s right in front of the beach, with Bangla Road about a minute away, yet the place is calm and peaceful. There’s a bar on the rooftop too. It isn’t a party hostel, but you can meet people and get your own party going.
