Diamond Cliff Resort & Spa, Patong Beach

I’d happily stay at Diamond cliff again. Our two-week visit was fabulous, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and lovely throughout. The hotel gave us a voucher for a free fruit basket from its fruit shop, plus a complimentary candlelit dinner at the Seaview restaurant. Room service runs 24 hours: scan the QR code for the menu, and the food we ordered arrived promptly and was really good. The grounds are clean and well cared for, with two nice pools and towels available there. Our room, 2219, had plenty of storage, air conditioning, a comfortable super king-size bed, a fridge and mini bar with snacks, TV, kettle, hairdryer, safe, and doorbell. It also came with toiletries, bathrobes, slippers for indoors and outdoors, a shopping and beach basket, and an umbrella. Ann cleaned it daily, bringing fresh towels and bottled water and topping up the coffee. She changed the bedding when we asked, using the hotel’s simple card system to indicate when it was needed. Breakfast had a huge choice of hot and cold food, including fruit, pastries, cereals, yoghurt, pancakes, waffles, meats, cheeses, eggs, rice, curries, and sushi. The only issue for me was the shower over the bath. It ran from the tap system and wasn’t very powerful, though it did the job. The hotel sits above a busy road opposite the beach, a short walk from the main promenade. There’s a steep driveway up to reception, then more steps and walkways to the higher rooms, which could be difficult for older guests or anyone with walking difficulties. A shuttle runs constantly between reception and those rooms, which can only be reached up that incline. Try Amritsr Indian restaurant by the beachfront. Turn right as you leave the hotel and follow the path to the other side of the road. The food is fab and reasonably priced, and the upstairs front tables have a great sea view.
