Doze Patong

Doze Patong was a comfortable, clean place to stay, close to the action but quiet enough to unwind. The beach, food spots, and nights out were easy to get to. It’s simple and no-frills, but does what it promises. I’d stay again.

The owner eventually let us check in and pay the 1,000 baht deposit later, after our Thai friend spoke to her by phone. We appreciated the owner’s apology, but the manager never apologized or changed her attitude. The first receptionist stayed kind, finished checking us in, and showed us to the room. We’d booked three nights and arrived late after a long, exhausting trip. It was hot, we were tired, and there was no AC in reception. We just wanted to check in, shower, and cool down. At first, a very nice receptionist couldn’t find our booking and called the manager. She found it, then demanded a 1,000 baht cash deposit without greeting us or even looking at us, in an extremely rude tone. The booking site hadn’t mentioned the deposit, so we hadn’t brought cash and hadn’t had time to withdraw any. We offered a credit card instead, but she refused and said we had to get cash immediately or couldn’t check in, with no flexibility or empathy. The room looked decent at first, but the materials felt very cheap and fragile. The plastic bathroom tap seemed easy to break, and the bed on wheels shifted with very little pressure. The AC took ages to cool the room, especially in daytime heat. After we complained, staff gave us an extra key card so we could leave the AC running. The toilet tank took around five minutes to refill after each flush. Our room wasn’t cleaned once during the stay. At check-out, we were told we had to request cleaning at reception, but nobody had explained that at check-in. This might be acceptable with professional service and clearer communication about basic things. With the service, undisclosed deposit, and room problems we had, I can’t recommend this hotel.

Wan was really friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Good value for money. I’d choose this place again next time.

The room was small for the high price, and the reception staff weren’t friendly. It was a bad experience.
