Right in the heart of Patong, and it was clean and safe. The two rooms have air conditioning and a balcony, and the price is very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend it.

Pa Tong is a great base, with nearly everything open around the clock, all seven days. The Irish Times is nearby for a rest, cold beers, good A/C, and nice bands. There's good shopping for the wife too.

The apartment was comfortable enough and the air conditioning worked well. It felt a little small for three adults, but if you're out exploring most of the day, it does the job. The gym on site is a real bonus. Building staff were always nice, though they aren't connected with the agency we rented through. Laundry took a while, but they can speed it up if you ask. There was a Big C nearby as well as a day and night market. The location makes it easy to explore both the north and south of the island. Patong itself, though, was chaotic and dirty, full of tourists looking to get drunk and take advantage of the Thai nightlife. I found it disgraceful. Avoid it and choose Kata, Karon, Kamala, Nai thon, Surin, or somewhere else. We had ants and roaches in the apartment, killing about one a day, and cleaning costs extra. The agency said it was on the second floor, but it was actually on the third. Arriving at 1 a.m., tired and drenched in sweat because the corridors had no fresh air, made that especially frustrating. There were no instructions for rubbish disposal or recycling. We were three people but had cutlery, dishes, and cups for only two. Getting the Wi-Fi password also required emailing the agency, which makes little sense when you have no connection to send that email. Most tourists may have their own Thai SIM, but still.
