Sunflower Hotel

I arrived with my wife around 10 PM on December 28th, after booking a stay from December 28th to 31st, 2024, just ten days before the trip. At reception, they said they couldn’t find the booking. A woman there blamed it on the previous owner and said ownership had changed. It was already around midnight, and despite my repeated requests, she wouldn’t give us a room. We had to search extensively and finally book somewhere else for ten times what our original booking cost. I later found this is a common scam in Phuket, where people who book at a lower price may be turned away with vague excuses. Dealing with this hotel was a complete nightmare. I strongly advise people to avoid it. It is run by scammers.

There are lots of massage shops nearby, so you have plenty to choose from. The hotel is well located, close to both the beach and the bar street, and you can walk to each. Check-in was very smooth.

I booked through booking.com months ago, and my reservation is confirmed. Two weeks before the stay I went to the hotel in person to check the room, and reception said nothing about a problem. The payment is pending on my account, but now they say the Boss has changed and the new Boss won’t approve my booking, so I should cancel it. The screenshots show it’s booked and confirmed, yet it feels like they’re trying to charge me more. I came to check in at 11 am, and it was 2 pm when I wrote this, with no real resolution. Police came, but the manager asked them to leave and said she would sort it out. Since then she’s only negotiated for an extra 500 BHT per day for my 15-day stay. They keep pushing me to cancel, which I won’t do because then I’d have no proof of the booking and payment. Apparently the new owner is chinese and wants more money. I don’t trust this place. Even with a confirmed booking and proof, they still try to rip you off. Nobody here speaks English or any language other than thai, which is frustrating. It feels unreliable, and the room isn’t worth what they’re charging. They see westerners and just keep trying to charge more, even when you have evidence of your booking.

The location is brilliant, with shops, bars, restaurants, and the best Thai massages nearby. The beach is only a 15-minute walk away, and the staff were friendly. We loved staying here! ⛱️
