Tanawan Phuket Hotel

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING. This was our worst stay ever. We'd booked two rooms for 12 days, but when we arrived, everything was different from the photos, which looked fake or photoshopped. The mosquito bed covers weren't there, the lights were very dim, there was mould in the bathroom, and the safe didn't work. The refrigerator was broken too. I asked to have it fixed. The next day mine worked and the other room's was broken, and this happened three times until we realized they were just switching it between our rooms. Every time we went out, there were around 30 mosquitoes at the door. We bought a mosquito catcher and tried using it, but it was useless because they kept coming. The room was depressing and felt like a 1-star hotel, not a 3-star one. After four days we couldn't stay any longer, so we asked reception to check us out and return the rest of our money. She shouted and refused. The reception staff seemed better suited to a prison than a hotel. They were angry and refused everything we asked for, including a clothes iron. When they cleaned the room, if we left the electricity card there, they'd take it to reception to punish us. At reception they shouted and demanded that we unplug it to save electricity. Please don't get tricked like we did. Find another hotel.

The location is convenient, around a 15-minute walk to Patong Beach and one minute from the nearest 7-Eleven. There are lots of shops and motorbike rentals nearby. The room was okay, though the hotel feels outdated and not particularly welcoming. The decor was alright, but the balcony faces a noisy main street. The shower pressure was extremely low and uncomfortable. Service was really disappointing, and the staff weren't friendly. Reception isn't open 24/7, and nobody was there even at checkout time. At 7 PM I tried calling reception five times from my phone to get the Wi-Fi password, but nobody answered. I wouldn't return unless service and facilities improve.

The only good things were the hotel's location next to 7 eleven and the spacious bathroom. We booked a suite, but the room smelled damp and reception did nothing when I complained. The balcony couldn't be used because it had two AC outdoor units and drainage from another building. The sheets and pillows weren't clean, the room had no proper lighting or place to dry clothes, and the water smelled of chlorine. I would never recommend this hotel.

The room was decent, though a little old, and the staff were kind and helpful. We spent 3 nights there and paid about 190K Korean won. It's a bit far from Patong Beach, around a 25-minute trip. There's a cheap, fast laundry next door and a 7eleven right by the hotel. A night market with good food is about a 15-minute walk away. There is also a Big. supermarket within a 10-minute walk, with lots of food, vegetables and fruit to choose from. The hotel was good, but not perfect.
