The Taksim Royal Beachfront Resort

The hotel is right across from the beach, and stepping outside puts you among plenty of street food options in the central area. We stayed three nights and found the place neat, tidy, and peaceful inside. The staff were really sweet and helpful, and breakfast had a good spread. The restaurant downstairs also has good food. If you’re going to Patong, stay here.

We left after just one night and moved to another resort. The photos didn’t match what we found: our view was a dirty rooftop, the beds were very hard, and the room didn’t feel clean. Noise was unbearable, window trim was coming off, and the doors looked as if someone had tried to break in before, so they didn’t feel secure. The electrics seemed faulty too. When we tried charging a phone and plugged in a light, it went out and we heard a popping sound. We’d prepaid for four nights, but when we asked to cancel, they wouldn’t refund the unused nights. We found a much better priced, well-managed little resort just down the road, just as close to the beach and offering more. I’d avoid this place.

You only have to cross the road to get to the beach, and Patong Street is about 1 km away. That location made getting around easy and was the best part for me. The hotel’s old-fashioned style still has a rich, charming look inside, and there’s a café downstairs with good food. It was a comfortable, pleasant stay with everything close by.

We chose a family suite, and it was roomy and comfortable. Staff were courteous and very helpful throughout. I especially liked the in-house spa: Monchaya and Thanyakon were skilled and professional, and both the foot massage and Thai massage were relaxing. The hotel is right opposite the beach and under 1 km from Bangla Road, handy for both a quiet break and nightlife. Breakfast was the weak point, with very few choices, and the menu could use more variety. Still, we had a great stay and would recommend it.
