Villa Park Resort

The pool was a nice, cool spot, tucked away and private, with a great view over Phuket. The hill is steep, as other people have mentioned, and it's more than a 10-minute walk to the beach along a busy narrow road with no sidewalks. We found a tuk tuk easier. There are a Family Mart and 7-Eleven nearby, and the room rates were cheap. Our room was big, the air conditioning worked well, and we had a good fridge. The safe was small but useful. When we had trouble with it, the owners gave us the master key. They were friendly and helpful with questions, recommended a couple of good restaurants, and helped book transport to Phi Phi, though I would have liked more tips and recommendations. The beds were very hard and the pillows weren't great. Wi-Fi worked well when it was up, but sometimes went down for hours. The toilet wouldn't flush for the first day and a half, so we had to ask several times for help. The shower drained poorly, leaving ankle-deep water in the bathroom for hours, and with no bathroom ventilation or air conditioning, it was unpleasant after showering. There wasn't much room to hang things to dry in the room or on the balcony. The TV either didn't work or had no sound.

It's peaceful here, backing onto the rainforest, but still close to everything. The owner and his wife are happy to help with anything, and the whole place has a relaxed feel. I stay here for a few months every year.

Cheap, tidy, and cool, with the subway nearby. The staff are awesome and helpful. Recommend it!

The place is old and dirty, though the staff are nice. Couldn't find a taxi, so have the street name ready.
