The room is basic but comfortable and clean. The bathroom had a bit of a smell, which I think came from the island water rather than the hotel. I was lucky to get room 4, one of the two rooms I think have an ocean view. Sitting on the balcony with a cold drink and watching the busy pier boats and people coming and going was lovely. You may want to ask for a view room when booking. The location is handy for the pier, shops and restaurants, and a good base for exploring the island. Songthaew and motorcycle taxis are available nearby, and the town is fun to wander around, with lots of little alleys. The hotel was good overall. One thing to know if you're hoping to sleep in: the first ferry leaves at 6:30 am, and they sound the horn five minutes beforehand to hurry along late passengers. It didn't bother me as an early riser.

The hosts were welcoming, caring and helpful, and it felt like a second home. Clean rooms, a great location and breakfast, with good value for the price. Best hotel on Koh Lan.
