Ease Jomtien Hotel

We came to Pattaya, Thailand for a sports tournament and were on a budget, but arriving was a nightmare. My friend had booked this hotel, and in the middle of the night our taxi driver spent an hour trying to find it. Security at a nearby hotel eventually helped. The hotel was closed, even though it was still bookable on Booking.com, and I couldn’t contact them through the app. The attached photo of Ezzi Hotel shows it closed, either for renovation or an upgrade. We were put in Elong hotel instead, which is part of Jomtien Holiday Hotel, though we hadn’t known it was Elong Hotel. Booking.com needs to sort this out with the hotel management. This isn’t the five-star hotel advertised on Booking.com, and it seems geared toward Chinese tour groups. If you’re travelling on your own, don’t book it. Google Maps won’t get you there, and you can end up circling around in the dark with directions telling you to turn where there’s no street. That said, Elong hotel, or Ezzi, is cheap and has spacious rooms, with basic breakfast included. We’re staying here because my friend booked it and we’re on a budget.

Breakfast was awful too. The hot buffet was cold, flies covered most of the food, the tea and coffee couldn’t be drunk, and the fruit juice wasn’t real fruit juice. In our room, we had only hot water in the bathroom, and sewage from a leaking toilet spread across the floor. Reception fixed the water temperature after we complained, but left the toilet leaking. The next morning they told me to email the manager. I did, but got no reply. We went out for the afternoon and evening, and when we returned the toilet was still unfixed, sewage was still on the bathroom floor, and housekeeping hadn’t visited or changed our towels. The room smelled like a sewer. Around midnight, we spent more than an hour at reception trying to get help, but they refused to help us. The hotel caters to Chinese people. Appalling hotel and appalling treatment from management.

The rooms are spacious, the shower’s good, and the staff are pleasant and friendly. Breakfast, though, was just greasy fried food, with no fresh fruit. It felt like a waste of time, and the Chinese tourists there acted as if it might be their last meal.
