Golden Jomtien Beach Hotel

The power cut around 11pm was the worst part. The hallway emergency exit light and floodlight didn’t work, and the generator took a while to start. Once it did, it only powered the hallway, not our room, so my family evacuated because we didn’t know what was happening. The staircase was piled with things like a storeroom. The building didn’t seem fit for use given these basic safety and regulations issues. I hope they improve. Other problems added to a horrible stay. Our room was clean, but the phone didn’t work and staff laughed when I reported it. A faulty balcony door lock meant we couldn’t access the balcony. We’d booked breakfast, but when I called about meal preferences, the operator said it wasn’t included and we’d have to pay. I went to reception with the booking, where I was told they’d heard the room number wrong, even though I’d spoken to two receptionists and both had asked for it.

The room deserves 3 stars from me. The windows are hot, and there was no water in the fridge.

Being near the beach was the one good thing. The rooms and service were at what people in the know would call a hanging express level in China. The breakfast, pool, and other facilities were the ugly part: no pool towels, and the water and all the breakfast food, including the baked eggs, were cold. It was a terrible hotel overall. I wish the other place I wanted hadn’t been booked out. Avoid it if you have another option. I’m certain it will be better.

The staff were courteous and professional, and the hotel is handy for both the beach and a night market. But don’t come expecting peace. Bars nearby make noise outside at night, and inside you hear kids yelling, doors slamming, people stomping in the hall, and loud conversations with room doors left open. The hotel is large, with thin walls. Breakfast felt like a feeding frenzy in a small dining room that couldn’t seat even a fraction of the guests, and the food selection wasn’t great. It seems best suited to large tour groups. If you want somewhere quiet, this isn’t it.
