Maleez Lodge Hotel and Restaurant

I like the location, and for the price it seems decent. It was fully booked when I asked in February, though I still got to look around. Next time I'll book ahead. I made the mistake of just walking in near the end of peak season and hoping for a room.

The rooms have been renovated and the location is good. If you'd like a place with a restaurant downstairs where you can sit and relax, some older hotels at the same price offer that, but this one doesn't. It depends on what you prefer.

Dust covered the floor, and there were ants all over as well as cockroaches in the rooms. The mattress was very hard and itchy, and evenings were noisy. The internet was good and so was the location, which earns it one extra star.

The food is very good, and the staff are great. My first-floor standard room faced the street. It wasn't big, but it was clean and the street noise was minimal. The bathroom and balcony were both adequate. There was no safe in my room, though lock boxes were available at the check-in desk. Larger rooms cost a little more. If you like Soi Buakhao, it's a good budget option.
